Frequently Asked Questions

Are your Nuts Pasteurized?

Yes. All our nuts are pasteurized to prevent the growth of harmful bacteria.  Aurora pasteurizes in-house our nuts and seeds rather than sending the product out to another processor. For the nut types we pasteurize, we use an all-natural, organic plant-derived liquid that sterilizes the outside of the nut while maintaining its raw quality and freshness. The by-product of this liquid is water vapor and oxygen. This system is called Neo-pure.

Are your products kosher approved?

Yes, the vast majority of Aurora’s products are Kosher Approved through the Circle K Kosher Certification Agency of New York.

How can I get a job at Aurora?

Aurora has a temp to hire policy for the majority of our production positions. This allows both the employee and Aurora to see if the position is the right fit during a brief orientation period. If you would like more information on how to apply through the temporary agency, please contact our HR representative at HRDept@auroraproduct.com. If you would like to submit your resume for any future position openings (management and office positions typically do not go through the temporary agency), you may submit it through this address as well.

I’m noticing a white coating on my Aurora fruit or berry. Is it mold?

Most of the time the answer is “No, this white coating is actually the naturally occurring sugar which has migrated to the outside of the fruit.” Some products that are particularly susceptible to sugar deposit formation are figs, apricots, dates, mango, pineapple, cranberries, and cherries. In many areas of the world such as Turkey, this natural sugaring is actually sought after. To keep optimal freshness, we recommend refrigerating the fruit.

Where/how can I get the nutritional information for this item?

What are the differences between Natural, Organic, and conventional food products?

Organic refers to the way farmers grow and process food products. Organic agricultural practices are designed to reduce chemical pollution and encourage soil and water conservation. In addition, Organic food production prohibits use of chemical fertilizers, pesticides, growth regulators, and livestock feed additives.

All Natural refers to the ingredients within a food product after it is harvested. All Natural food products do not contain any additives, preservatives, or artificial coloring.

Conventional Food Products often allow the use of synthetic or chemically derived additives, preservatives, or artificial coloring.

Can I buy from Aurora?

Unfortunately, you cannot. If you are having trouble locating your favorite product, please reach out to us by using the ‘Contact Us’ section of our website.

What is Prop 65?
Why does my label have prop 65 Warning label on it?

It is a California law requirement mandating businesses to provide warnings to Californians about possible exposure to over 900 chemicals they deem may be harmful by being carcinogenic, contributing to birth defects, or other harm if you are exposed to them. Some of these chemicals are inherent to the product or can be formed during the roasting process.  Aurora’s products are completely safe to consume and meet all FDA/USDA organic standards for harmful substances.  As with any food product, eating in moderation is always recommended and Organic product is recommended whenever possible.

Are you products gluten Free?

Inherently, dried fruit and plain nuts are Gluten Free, but other items in our manufacturing facility are not. Therefore, we do not indicate Gluten Free on our products.

Do your fruits contain sulfites?

None of our fruits contain added sulfites or artificial ingredients.

Why do your rated nuts say country of origin is USA, but your untreated nuts say different?

The USDA requires a manufacturer to change the Country of Origin to USA once the product undergoes substantial modification by roasting, flavoring, coating or other major change. In this case if the untreated nut from XYZ country is roasted, the Country-of-origin changes from XYZ to USA.
